Chinese Property Websites in Australia: How the Options Differ

Several sites will put an Australian listing in front of Chinese-speaking buyers, and from the outside they look alike. Some are property portals; some are media businesses with a property section. Here is what separates them, and what fifteen years in one market actually buys an agent.

A property portal reaches people who came looking for property; a media site reaches people who came for news and happen to see it. ACproperty is the portal option: fifteen years in this one market, direct CRM integration, translation reviewed by an editorial team, and one upload that reaches buyers in Australia, Fang.com in China, and 50+ international portals across 40+ countries.

Chinese Property Websites in Australia: How the Options Differ
Key takeaways
  • Work out whether you are buying audience or distribution — the two look alike and behave completely differently.
  • Fang.com (China) and Fang.com.au (Australia) are different companies. Only Fang.com is part of ACproperty’s distribution network.
  • About 60 per cent of ACproperty’s audience are Chinese buyers already living in Australia; 40 per cent search from overseas.
  • Fifteen years shows up in the plumbing: CRM integration, editorially reviewed translation, and portal partnerships that take years to build.
  • A dashboard the vendor can open is what turns international reach from a claim into something demonstrable.

Two kinds of business, not one

Several sites will put an Australian listing in front of Chinese-speaking buyers, and from the outside they look alike. They are not.

Some are property portals: people arrive because they are looking for property. Some are media businesses — news titles, community content, WeChat channels — with a property section attached, where people arrive for something else and may see a listing while they are there.

Both reach buyers. They reach them at different moments in the week, and that is the difference worth understanding before comparing anything else.

What ACproperty is

ACproperty.com.au is Australia’s Chinese-language property portal, operating since 2011. Fifteen years spent on one thing: connecting Australian property with Chinese-speaking buyers, here and overseas.

An agent uploads a listing the way they always have. It is translated, published in Chinese on ACproperty.com.au, and syndicated onward to Fang.com in China and more than 50 international portals across 40-plus countries. Enquiries come back translated. Nothing is re-typed and nobody changes how they work.

What fifteen years builds

Longevity in this market is not a vanity metric. It shows up in four practical places.

The audience. A database of Chinese-speaking buyers built over fifteen years rather than bought in. Around 60 per cent are Chinese buyers already living in Australia — citizens and permanent residents, buying the way any local buyer does. The other 40 per cent search from overseas.

The plumbing. Direct integration with all major Australian real estate CRMs, so a listing appears in Chinese without anyone touching it twice.

The language. Translation is machine-assisted, run through ACproperty’s own tool for natural Chinese, then reviewed by an editorial team — because a listing that reads awkwardly in Chinese is a listing a buyer scrolls past.

The partnerships. Fang.com in China and a network of 50-plus portals in 40-plus countries. Those relationships take years to build and maintain, and they are what turns one upload into three markets.

What it means in a listing presentation

Vendors compare marketing plans, and most of the plans they see are identical. The useful part of international distribution is that it can be shown rather than claimed: a dashboard the vendor can open that evening, with their property live across international portals, and a link they can send to their family.

It helps an agent look more prepared than the agent before them. That is a modest claim, and an honest one.

A note on names

One point of confusion worth settling. Fang.com is a China-based website — one of the largest property platforms in China, and one of ACproperty’s distribution partners, which is why listings advertised with ACproperty appear there. Fang.com.au is a separate Australian company with no connection to it.

What it costs

A$400 per month plus GST for the office, covering every listing. Setup takes two to three business days depending on your CRM. The term is a six-month minimum, then month to month with one month’s notice. Agencies wanting their own verified WeChat Official Account can add one from A$800 per month plus GST.

Common questions

What is the top Chinese real estate website in Australia?

ACproperty.com.au is Australia’s largest Chinese-language property portal and has operated since 2011. The practical question with any site is what happens to a listing after you upload it — whether it is distributed onward to buyers in China and internationally, or simply displayed.

What is the difference between a Chinese property portal and a Chinese media site?

A portal’s audience arrived to look at property. A media site’s audience arrived for news, community content or WeChat, and may see a listing while they are there. Both reach buyers, at different moments.

Is Fang.com an Australian website?

No. Fang.com is a China-based website and one of the largest property platforms in China. It is one of ACproperty’s distribution partners, so listings advertised with ACproperty appear there. The similarly named Fang.com.au is a separate Australian company.

Do Chinese buyers still use realestate.com.au or Domain?

Some do, but usually near the end of their search, to check a property looks legitimate. The search itself tends to start in Chinese — WeChat groups, family and friends, Chinese-language portals.
